Welcome to CISSU

Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) across Cheshire and Merseyside have come together to initiate and support the establishment of The Contract and Information Shared Services Unit (CISSU). CISSU is a pioneering concept in shared services units, bringing excellence in information and contract management to secondary acute and independent sector contracts, in the new market economy.

Contract management and the information required to support this will be more demanding with the plurality of providers across the NHS, Foundation Trusts and the Independent Sector. Robust contract management will minimise financial risk and deal effectively with more business minded organisations. These processes can be refined to be consistent whilst at the same time being dynamic and locally sensitive.

The establishment of the unit is in recognition of the fact that PCTs need to build capacity and expertise to addess this agenda.

  The unit has three main functions
1 Providing focussed, accurate and timely contract management information, through a unique data warehouse developed specifically by and for the 8 PCTs.
2 Supporting PCTs in the management and negotiation of contracts, via a customer focused account management service.
3 Managing nationally and locally procured independent sector contracts, working in partnership with the Department of Health.
