The core role of the Information Team is to manage the interface with the Secondary Uses Service (SUS) and to process information submitted by providers to ensure that it is validated and costed (either at PbR or locally agreed prices) to enable a range of pre-determined contract monitoring and benchmarking reports to be produced. The validation role comprises both basic technical data format and enhanced validation. The latter is very much aimed at addressing variation in coding and the different counting methods/approaches adopted between providers.
The team have developed the in house Information and Contract Intelligence System (ICIS) system which is an on-line contract activity system that is capable of direct interrogation by users. This system will drive the generation of pre-determined monthly activity and financial analyses. The range of reports will increase as users of the service request ad hoc reports that we are able to standardise for the benefit of the users of the service. The team can support PCTs to manage secondary care contracts more effectively by providing ‘knowledge based’ information including comparative analysis of contracts or benchmarking analysis and performance monitoring in liaison with our contracting colleagues
Team’s Key Objectives
- Providing monthly Contract Monitoring Reports.
- Provide ad hoc analysis service for key areas of work across the 8 PCTs.
- Working closely with the PCTs to validate the CDS data with SLAM data produced by the Trusts.
- Identifying local data/contract rules for each NHS Trust to ensure the SUS data is fit for purpose for contract monitoring.
- Train and support users in the use of ICIS and Discoverer (ad hoc interrogation tool). We are working with individuals in PCTs to have a Discoverer Super-user in each PCT
- Develop ICIS further to meet the present and future needs of the PCTs
- Implement new PbR Guidance including investigating and road testing new tariffs and new releases of the HRG Grouper and Spell Converter

Jeanette is responsible for developing, managing and maintaining the information and knowledge management systems and infrastructure to support contract monitoring with secondary care providers on behalf of the 8 PCTs in Cheshire and Merseyside. Jeanette works closely with all stakeholders to ensure their needs and expectations are fully met by establishing consistent information standards and procedures and associated use of appropriate national data sets. |

Rebecca works alongside the Information Team as a Trainee IM&T Operator. Rebecca also provides administrative support for the CISSU team and works with the Team Secretary on the general day-to-day running of the office. Peter provides expert advice to non IM&T PCT personnel on information sources, definitions and analytical techniques. Peter is also involved in the development of contract monitoring packs and contract monitoring of secondary care (acute) providers. Also, Peter contributes to the strategic development of information by undertaking ad-hoc Software Analysis and Design Reports and supports on the maintenance and development of the website. |

Richard is the Informatics lead in the provision of a dedicated analytical service and provides expert advice to non IM&T PCT personnel on information sources, definitions, analytical techniques and presentation of management information.
